Established through a gift from Richard de Frances ’54.
Awarded to a student who
- is an entering freshman student
- has been accepted to major in education, history or recreation and leisure studies
- is a first-generation* college student (a first-generation college student is one whose parent(s) have not obtained a college degree)
- has demonstrated financial need by way of filing a FAFSA
May be renewable. Renewals are dependent on available funding as provided by the Cortland College Foundation. Continued funding is based on student maintaining a 2.7 cumulative grade point average, remaining an education, history or recreation and leisure studies major, and continuing to show need.
