Faculty Memorial Scholarship

The Faculty Memorial Scholarship was established through a bequest from Lawrence A. Smith, Associate Professor Emeritus of Mathematics. This scholarship recognizes students who have demonstrated interest or ability in student government and/or other types of leadership responsibilities on campus. Students are eligible to apply each year.

Selection Criteria

  • awarded to a matriculated sophomore, junior or senior level student in good academic standing at SUNY Cortland
  • has a minimum 2.5 cumulative grade point average
  • demonstrates interest or ability in student government and/or other types of leadership responsibilities on campus
  • enrolled full-time (at least 12 credit hours each fall and spring semester)
  • student must have at least one full academic year remaining at the start of the fall semester of award year

Preference
Should multiple candidates be selected in a given year then:

  • awards will be spread across all schools of study
  • if possible at least one awardee will be a mathematics major

Renewal Information

  • this scholarship is a one-time award and is non-renewable.

Scholarship funding is determined by the Cortland College Foundation. Scholarship amounts and availability are subject to change.
