William Joseph Phelps '69 Scholarship

Established by the family of William Joseph Phelps ’69 in his memory. Mr. Phelps majored in physics while at SUNY Cortland. He served in Vietnam and was declared missing in action in November 1971.

Selection Criteria

  • awarded to a matriculated senior level student who will be a graduate student next year in good academic standing at SUNY Cortland
  • is an outstanding science major (preference given to a physics major)
  • minimum 3.0 GPA
  • will be a graduate student next year

Recipient does not have to attend SUNY Cortland graduate school to receive this scholarship. This scholarship is meant to support a student who will be graduating in May and plans to continue immediately with graduate school either at SUNY Cortland or elsewhere.

Recipient must inform the office of Cortland College Foundation as to where he/she will attend graduate school so that payment can be made directly to the graduate school.
