SUNY Cortland Diversity Fellowships

Established By State University of New York for graduate level students who will contribute to the diversity of the student body in the graduate or professional program in which enrollment is sought. Who can demonstrate that they would contribute to the diversity of the student body, especially those who can demonstrate that they have overcome a disadvantage or other impediment to success in higher education.

Selection Criteria

  • awarded to a matriculated graduate level student in good academic standing at SUNY Cortland
  • is a U.S. citizen or eligible permanent resident
  • contributes to the diversity of the graduate program to which they have been admitted. Economic or other disadvantage may be a basis for assessing a student’s contribution to enhancing diversity and/or a member in a racial/ethnic group that has historically been underrepresented in the graduate or professional program in which admission is sought may serve as a plus factor in making awards
  • student must have at least one full academic year remaining at the start of the fall semester of award year

Preference

Preference is given in the following order:

  1. new graduate students who will contribute to the diversity of the student body
  2. students who participated in an EOP, HEOP or SEEK program as an undergraduate are encouraged to apply
  3. graduate assistants and teaching assistants
  4. students having a diverse background, economic or other historical disadvantages

Renewal Information

  • This scholarship is a one-time award and is non-renewable

Scholarship funding is determined by The State University of New York . Scholarship amounts and availability are subject to change
