Dr. Melissa Morales '07 and Dr. Christopher R. Ortega '06 Scholarship

The Dr. Melissa Morales ’07 and Dr. Christopher R. Ortega ’06 Scholarship was established in recognition of the education they each received at SUNY Cortland. The scholarship will support a SUNY Cortland student majoring in Africana Studies, Communication Studies or Psychology. The student must display satisfactory academic achievement and demonstrated financial need. Preference should go to a first-generation college student. Award will be split evenly between the fall and spring semesters. Funding is based on availability.

Selection Criteria

  • For full-time matriculating students enrolled in Africana Studies, Communication Studies, or Psychology as a major.
  • Recipient(s) must be a continuing student in good academic standing at SUNY Cortland.
  • Recipient(s) must be enrolled full-time (at least 12 credit hours each fall and spring semester).
  • Recipient(s) must have at least one full academic year remaining at the start of the fall semester of award year.
  • Recipient(s) must have demonstrated financial need per FAFSA.

  • First-generation college student

Renewability

  • This scholarship is non-renewable. Students must apply each year.

Scholarship funding is determined by the Cortland College Foundation. Scholarship amounts and availability are subject to change.
