Past Presidents Scholarship

These scholarships were established in honor of the past presidents of SUNY Cortland: James H. Hoose (1869-1891), Francis J. Cheney (1891-1912), Harry DeWitt DeGroat (1912-1943), Donnal V. Smith (1943-1959), Donovan C. Moffett (1959-1963), Kenneth E. Young (1964-1968), Richard C. Jones (1968-1978), James M. Clark (1979-1995), and Judson H. Taylor (1996-2003). Award will be split evenly between the fall and spring semesters. Funding is based on availability.

Selection Criteria

  • awarded to a matriculated junior level student in good academic standing at SUNY Cortland
  • has a minimum 3.2 cumulative grade point average
  • has good character, demonstrated leadership and contributed to the College community
  • enrolled full-time (at least 12 credit hours each fall and spring semester)
  • student must have at least one full academic year remaining at the start of the fall semester of award year
  • has demonstrated financial need per FAFSA

Renewal Information

  • This scholarship is a one-time award and is non-renewable

Scholarship funding is determined by the Cortland College Foundation. Scholarship amounts and availability are subject to change.
