Patricia Larkin Husak '72 and William S. Husak '72 Scholarship
The Patricia Larkin Husak ‘72 and William S. Husak ’72 Scholarship was created by Tish and Bill to honor their experiences as SUNY Cortland students. Tish was a member of Sigma Rho Sigma, and a three-sport athlete having competed on the women’s basketball team, track and field and cheerleading. She spent 29 years as a professor of Kinesiology and Physical Education at California State University, Long Beach. Bill was a member of Beta Phi Epsilon and a three-sport athlete, having lettered in football, basketball and baseball. He had a successful 39-year career in higher education. The first 19 years were spent as a professor and chairman of the Physical Education Department as well as senior associate athletics director at California State University Long Beach. The last 20 years he served as the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics at Loyola Marymount University, marking a prolific two decades in LMU athletics history. Awards will be made annually to an incoming freshman in any major, with a minimum overall grade-point average of 2.5 and demonstrated financial need. Preference will be given to graduates of Auburn High School in Auburn, NY. The scholarship is renewable. Award will be split evenly between the fall and spring semesters. Funding is based on availability.
Selection Criteria
- awarded to an incoming Freshman level student in good academic standing at SUNY Cortland
- Recipient(s) must have a minimum 2.5 grade-point average.
- enrolled full-time (at least 12 credit hours each fall and spring semester)
- student must have at least one full academic year remaining at the start of the fall semester of award year
- has demonstrated financial need per FAFSA
Preference - Preference is given to graduates of Auburn High School in Auburn, N.Y.
Renewal Information - may be renewable, renewals are dependent on available funding as provided by the Cortland College Foundation
