Nicolas De La Pava '17 Scholarship
The Nicolas De La Pava Scholarship was created to honor the memory of Nicolas De La Pava ’17. He was an avid athlete who participated in several sports. He believed in the values of teamwork and discipline and was determined to succeed in everything he did. Awards will be made annually to a student in any major with demonstrated financial need and satisfactory academic achievement. Applicants will be required to write a compelling essay describing what discipline, compassion and fortitude means to them. Award split evenly between the fall and spring semesters. Funding is based on availability.
Selection Criteria
- awarded to a matriculated undergraduate student at the sophomore, junior, or senior level in good academic standing at SUNY Cortland.
- enrolled full time (at least 12 credits in the fall and spring semester) in any major.
- applicants will be required to write an essay describing the characteristics of discipline, compassion, and fortitude – the values by which Nicolas De La Pava lived. This will be the highest priority criteria in recipient determination.
- has demonstrated financial need per FAFSA.
Renewal Information
- The scholarship is a one time award and is non-renewable. Students are eligible to apply each year.
