Marguerite Gomez '74 Family Scholarship
The Marguerite Gomez ’74 Family Scholarship was established to honor Marguerite’s parents, Gilbert and Ida Gomez, who inspired their children to pursue higher education and obtain the opportunity that they were never offered. This scholarship will be awarded to students enrolled in a STEM major under the following departments: biological sciences, chemistry, geology, physics and mathematics that plan to be teachers or work in STEM related fields or students enrolled in any education major. Recipients must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average. Preference will be given to students from underrepresented groups including first-generation college students and demonstrated financial need. Award will be split evenly between the fall and spring semesters. Funding is based on availability.
Selection Criteria
- Awarded to a matriculated undergraduate level student in good academic standing at SUNY Cortland
- Recipient(s) must be enrolled in a major under the a STEM major under the following departments: biological sciences, chemistry, geology, physics and mathematics that plan to be teachers or work in STEM related fields or students enrolled in any education majors.
- Recipient(s) must have a minimum overall 3.0 grade point average.
- Recipient(s) must be enrolled full-time (at least 12 credit hours each fall and spring semester)
- Recipient(s) must have at least one full academic year remaining at the start of the fall semester of award year
- Recipient(s) must have demonstrated financial need per FAFSA.

Renewability
May be renewable, renewals are dependent on available funding as provided by the Cortland College Foundation
