Susan Cole Belkin '63 and Bernard Belkin Scholarship
The Susan Coles Belkin ’63 and Bernard Belkin Scholarship was established to recognize the foundational and educational experiences that the College provided Susan to launch her professional career as an educator. Recipients must be enrolled in a major leading to a teaching degree. Recipients must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average to apply for the award, and must maintain good academic standing throughout the renewal process. Preference will be given to those with demonstrated financial need and residents of New York State. Award will be split evenly between the fall and spring semesters. Funding is based on availability.
Selection Criteria
- For full time-matriculated students enrolled in any major leading to a teaching degree.
- Recipient(s) must be a sophomore, junior or senior.
- Recipient(s) must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade point average to apply. In subsequent awarding years (the renewal years), recipients must maintain satisfactory academic achievement.
- Scholarship amount will be approximately $4,000 and will be directed to offset the cost of attendance at SUNY Cortland.
- The scholarship is renewable and will follow the same student for the duration of studies while at SUNY Cortland as long as the student continues to meet the criteria.
Preference - Demonstrated financial need per FAFSA
- Resident of New York State.
Renewal Information

- enrolled full-time (at least 12 credit hours each fall and spring semester)
- maintain satisfactory academic progress per SUNY Cortland’s published Federal Good Academic Standing guidelines
