Gerald M. Surette Scholarship In Political Economy

Established by former students and alumni, George Weissman ’76, Michael Morandi ’76, and Fritz Favorule ’76, wishing to honor the legacy of Professor Gerry Surette. Award will be split evenly between the fall and spring semesters. Funding is based on availability.

Selection Criteria

  • awarded to a matriculated sophomore, junior or senior level student in good academic standing at SUNY Cortland
  • has a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average
  • either is majoring in Economics, Business Economics or minoring in Economics or Political Economy
  • demonstrates an understanding of political economy
  • enrolled full-time (at least 12 credit hours each fall and spring semester)
  • student must have at least one full academic year remaining at the start of the fall semester of award year

Preference:

  • has demonstrated financial need per FAFSA

Requirements

  • Two letters of recommendation from two current faculty members within the Economics Department

  • This award may be renewable.

Scholarship funding is determined by the Cortland College Foundation. Scholarship amounts and availability are subject to change.

Be sure to read the scholarship information regarding the required reference person qualifications (i.e. faculty, staff or other).
