Cheryl E. Barredo M ’81 Scholarship
The Cheryl E. Barredo M ’81 Scholarship was established by Cheryl to recognize the impact SUNY Cortland had on her career as an educator. From 1976 until her retirement in 2018, Cheryl shared her passion for teaching with students at McGraw High School, Christian Brothers Academy in Syracuse and as an adjunct professor at Tompkins Cortland Community College. This scholarship will be awarded to an adolescence education: English (7-12) major with satisfactory academic achievement and a preference for demonstrated financial need. Award will be split evenly between the fall and spring semesters. Funding is based on availability.
Selection Criteria
- For full-time matriculating students enrolled in the Adolescence Education: English (7-12) major.
- Recipient(s) must be a sophomore, junior, or senior student.
- Recipient(s) must have satisfactory academic achievement.
- Recipient(s) must * enrolled full-time (at least 12 credit hours each fall and spring semester)
Preference - Recipient(s) have demonstrated financial need per FAFSA
Renewal Information - This scholarship is a one-time award and is non-renewable. Students must apply each year.
Scholarship funding is determined by the Cortland College Foundation. Scholarship amounts and availability are subject to change.
