Richard C. Gnida ’63 Family Scholarship

The Richard C. Gnida ’63 Family Scholarship was established by Elizabeth Gnida, in memory of Richard (Richie) and his passion for SUNY Cortland. This scholarship recognizes the experiences and education Richie received at SUNY Cortland that led to a successful career as an administrator, coach and educator. This scholarship will be awarded to students enrolled in any education related major leading to a teaching career in early childhood and childhood education, adolescence education or physical education, with satisfactory academic achievement and demonstrated financial need. Preference will be given to physical education majors. Award will be split evenly between the fall and spring semesters. Funding is based on availability.

Selection Criteria

  • For full-time matriculating students enrolled in any education related major leading to a teaching career in early childhood and childhood education, adolescence education or physical education.
  • Recipient(s) must be a continuing student with satisfactory academic achievement.
  • Recipient(s) must be enrolled full-time (at least 12 credit hours each fall and spring semester).
  • Recipient(s) must have demonstrated financial need.

Preference

  • Applicant(s) who are enrolled in the Physical Education Major

Renewal Information

  • This scholarship is non-renewable. Students must apply each year.

Scholarship funding is determined by the Cortland College Foundation. Scholarship amounts and availability are subject to change.
