Nancy and James Sorbella Scholarship

The Nancy and James Sorbella Scholarship was established by Nancy and James in recognition of SUNY Cortland’s positive impact on their development as individuals and as a couple. This scholarship will support first-generation college students as James was the first in his family to graduate college. If no first-generation college students are available, then second-generation students will be considered. Recipients must have satisfactory academic achievement and a preference for demonstrated financial need. Award will be split evenly between the fall and spring semesters. Funding is based on availability.

Selection

• For full-time matriculating students enrolled in any major.
• Recipient(s) must be a sophomore, junior, or senior student with satisfactory academic achievement.
• Recipient(s) must be first generation college students as defined by being the first in their family to attend college. If no first-generation students apply, then second-generation students will be considered.

• Demonstrated financial need per FAFSA

Renewal Information

• This scholarship is non-renewable. Students must apply each year.

Scholarship funding is determined by the Cortland College Foundation. Scholarship amounts and availability are subject to change.
