John C. Elliott ’71, M ’73 Scholarship

The John C. Elliott ’71, M ’73 Scholarship was established in recognition of the experiences and education he received as a student at SUNY Cortland. As a secondary social studies major, John spent over 40 years of his career as a librarian and media specialist. He is an avid supporter of the swimming and diving program at SUNY Cortland. The scholarship will be awarded to students enrolled in the Dual Major in Adolescence Education: Social Studies and History (7-12). Should there be no eligible applicants within that major, then any education related major will be considered. Recipients must have satisfactory academic achievement and a preference for demonstrated financial need. Award will be split evenly between the fall and spring semesters. Funding is based on availability.

Selection Criteria

  • For full-time matriculating students enrolled in the Dual Major in Adolescence Education: Social Studies and History (7-12). Should there be no eligible applicants within this major then secondary consideration will be given to any education related major.
  • Recipient(s) must be a continuing student.
  • Recipient(s) must have satisfactory academic achievement.
  • enrolled full-time (at least 12 credit hours each fall and spring semester)

Preference

  • Demonstrated financial need per FAFSA

Renewal Information

  • This scholarship is non-renewable. Students must apply each year.

Scholarship funding is determined by the Cortland College Foundation. Scholarship amounts and availability are subject to change.
