Robert Vinal '71 Scholarship in Memory of Victor Bahou

The Robert Vinal ’71 Scholarship in Memory of Victor Bahou was established by Robert, to honor the memory of one of his most influential professors within the Politic Science department, Victor Bahou. Victor taught political science at SUNY Cortland in the social studies department from 1957 to 1977 and served as a government and political official for Cortland County and New York State. This scholarship will be awarded to students enrolled in any major within the Political Science Department who demonstrate a strong interest in pursuing a career in local, state or federal government. Recipients must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average and a preference for demonstrated financial need.

Selection Criteria

  • For full-time matriculating students enrolled in any major under the Political Science Department.
  • Recipient(s) must display evidence of pursuing a career in local, state or federal government.
  • Recipient(s) must be a sophomore, junior, or senior student.
  • Recipient(s) must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0.
  • Recipient(s) must be enrolled full-time (at least 12 credit hours each fall and spring semester).

Preference:

  • Demonstrated financial need.

Renewability

  • This scholarship is non-renewable and awarded for one year. Students are eligible to apply each year.

Scholarship funding is determined by the Cortland College Foundation. Scholarship amounts and availability are subject to change.
