Jay Cummings Recreation, Parks and Leisure Studies Program Fund

The Jay Cummings Recreation, Parks and Leisure Studies Program Fund was established through many gifts from SUNY Cortland’s alumni, emeriti, faculty, staff and friends in recognition of Jay Cummings’ many years of outstanding service as Assistant Director of SUNY Cortland’s Outdoor Education Center at Raquette Lake. This scholarship will offset Raquette Lake course fees for students enrolled in any major or minor within the Recreation, Parks and Leisure Studies Department with satisfactory academic achievement and a preference for demonstrated financial need. Award will be split evenly between the fall and spring semesters. Funding is based on availability.

Selection Criteria

  • For full-time matriculating student(s) enrolled in any major or minor within the Recreation, Parks and Leisure Studies Department.
  • Recipient(s) must be participating in a program course at Raquette Lake.
  • Recipient(s) may be a sophomore, junior or senior level student.
  • Recipient(s) must have satisfactory academic achievement.
  • Recipient(s) are eligible to receive funding more than once.

Preference

  • is given to students with demonstrated financial need per FAFSA

Renewal Information

  • This scholarship is a one-time award and is non-renewable

Scholarship funding is determined by the Cortland College Foundation. Scholarship amounts and availability are subject to change.
