Suzanne Wingate Memorial Scholarship
The Suzanne Wingate Memorial Scholarship was established by the Sport Management Club in memory of Dr. Suzanne Wingate, a SUNY Cortland professor who was an avid golfer. The Sport Management Club held annual golf tournaments to raise funds to endow the scholarship. Dr. Wingate is credited with founding the College’s Sport Management program and worked at SUNY Cortland from 1985 until her death from cancer in 1995. Recipients must be sports management majors who are participating in a sport management internship during their senior year with a minimum overall grade point average of 3.0 and demonstrated campus and community service. Award will be split evenly between the fall and spring semesters. Funding is based on availability.
Selection Criteria
- For full-time matriculating students majoring in sport management.
- Recipient(s) must be junior level students with a minimum of 56.5 credit hours (12 of which need to be completed at SUNY Cortland)
- Recipient(s) must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average.
- Recipient(s) must demonstrate commitment of time and effort to the sport management program.
- Recipient(s) must participate in a sport management internship during their senior year, for SPM 470 or its successor course.
- enrolled full-time (at least 12 credit hours each fall and spring semester)

- This scholarship is a one-time award and is non-renewable
Scholarship funding is determined by the Cortland College Foundation. Scholarship amounts and availability are subject to change.
