"Hayes Hall Nine" 1970 Scholarship
The “Hayes Hall Nine” 1970 Scholarship was established in honor of the lasting friendships formed by Nadine C. Bullion ’74, Patricia Lettko Fogg ’74 (SUNY Albany), Dianne Galashaw ’74, Margaret Grace ’75, M ’83, Marty DeGolver Marsh ’74 (SUNY Fredonia), Susan Gunner McDermott ’76, M ’85, Barbara A. Rienzo ’74, Barbara Jane Ryan ’74 and Margaret Mendoza Stepansky ’74. The nine women, from diverse backgrounds, bonded over their shared experience of developing strong character while pursuing degrees in higher education. They are unified in their belief in creating pathways for success for all students, especially those overcoming adversity in pursuit of furthering their education. This scholarship will be awarded to incoming first-year or transfer student(s) enrolled in any major with satisfactory academic achievement and a preference for demonstrated financial need. Award will be split evenly between the fall and spring semesters. Funding is based on availability.
Selection Criteria
- For full-time matriculating students enrolled in any major.
- Recipient(s) must be an incoming first-year or transfer student.
- Recipient(s) must have satisfactory academic achievement.
Preference
- Demonstrated financial need per FAFSA
Renewal Information
- This scholarship is renewable and may follow the same student as long as the student continues to meet the criteria.
- May be renewable, renewals are dependent on available funding as provided by the Cortland College Foundation.
- maintain satisfactory academic progress per SUNY Cortland’s published Federal Good Academic Standing guidelines
- enrolled full-time (at least 12 credit hours each fall and spring semester)
- this scholarship is renewable for a maximum of four academic years (eight academic semesters, excluding summer semesters). Actual number of terms is based on Class Level (freshman, sophomore, etc) at time of initial award
Funding is determined by the Cortland College Foundation. Scholarship amounts and availability are subject to change.
