David J. Checcino ’68, Ph.D. Scholarship

The David J. Checcino ’68, Ph.D. Scholarship was established by David in memory of his parents, Dominic Joseph Checcino and Catherine Marie Checcino née Williams, and in recognition of the education he received at SUNY Cortland. This scholarship will support incoming students in any major with satisfactory academic achievement and a preference for demonstrated financial need. Award will be split evenly between the fall and spring semesters. Funding is based on availability.

Selection Criteria

  • For full-time matriculating students enrolled in any major.
  • Recipient(s) must be an incoming student.
  • Recipient(s) must be enrolled full-time (at least 12 credit hours each fall and spring semester).
  • Recipient(s) must have at least one full academic year remaining at the start of the fall semester of award year.
  • Recipient(s) must have satisfactory academic achievement.

Preference

  • Demonstrated financial need per FAFSA

Renewal information

  • may be renewable, renewals are dependent on available funding as provided by the Cortland College Foundation
  • matriculated at SUNY Cortland
  • maintain satisfactory academic achievement
  • enrolled full-time (at least 12 credit hours each fall and spring semester)
  • maintain satisfactory academic progress per SUNY Cortland’s published Federal Good Academic Standing guidelines
  • this scholarship is renewable for a maximum of four academic years (eight academic semesters, excluding summer semesters). Actual number of terms is based on Class Level (freshman, sophomore, etc) at time of initial award

Scholarship funding is determined by the Cortland College Foundation. Scholarship amounts and availability are subject to change.
