Kevin T. and Cynthia Marie Halpin Scholarship
The Kevin T. and Cynthia Marie Halpin Scholarship was established by close friends and colleagues, Robert Spitzer, Distinguished Service Professor Emeritus, Political Science, and Teresa Spitzer M ’89, in honor of the contributions made by the Halpins to the Performing Arts Department. Kevin is credited with spearheading the development of the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree program in Musical Theatre. Cynthia was honored with the SUNY Cortland Excellence in Teaching Award – Non-Tenure Track, in 2015 for her notable contributions to the Performing Arts Department as a faculty member. Open to any major under the Performing Arts Department with satisfactory academic achievement, this scholarship is awarded annually, by way of an audition coordinated by the Performing Arts Department on campus. Award will be split evenly between the fall and spring semesters. Funding is based on availability.
Selection Criteria
- For full-time matriculating students enrolled in any major within the Performing Arts Department.
- Recipient(s) must be a sophomore, junior or senior level student.
- Recipient(s) must participate in an audition coordinated by the Performing Arts Department.
- The Performing Arts Department shall create a panel to determine the results of the auditions.
- Recipient(s) must have satisfactory academic achievement.
Renewal Information
- This scholarship is non-renewable. Students must apply each year.
Scholarship funding is determined by the Cortland College Foundation. Scholarship amounts and availability are subject to change.
