Robert and Teresa Spitzer M '89 Award for Excellence in Political Science
The Robert and Teresa Spitzer M ‘89 Award for Excellence in Political Science was established by the Spitzers to honor their affiliation with SUNY Cortland. SUNY Distinguished Service Professor Emeritus Robert Spitzer spent his career as an educator and political scientist. Teresa, who earned her master’s degree in education at SUNY Cortland in 1989, taught students in the Dryden School District until retirement. The Spitzer Award will be granted to the highest-achieving junior-level student enrolled in any major within the Political Science Department and will be presented at the university’s annual Honors Convocation ceremony.
Criteria
- Recipient(s) must have junior standing during the semester that the award is given.
- Recipient(s) must be enrolled in any major within the political science department.
- Recipient(s) will have the highest grade point average (GPA) in the political science major as calculated by the Student Registration and Record Services Office.
- Recipient(s) must have completed at least 15 credit hours in Political Science coursework at SUNY Cortland prior to the semester in which the award is given.
- Recipient(s) are eligible to receive the award one-time. This is a non- renewable award.
