D. Jo Schaffer Award in Art History

The D. Jo Schaffer Scholarship in Art and Art History was established to recognize in perpetuity the values and accomplishments of Curator of Visual Resources Emerita, D. Jo Schaffer.
Schaffer was the first woman president of the SUNY Cortland Chapter of United University Professions and served for many years as a statewide UUP Officer, representing academic and professional faculty. This scholarship will be granted to the highest-achieving junior-level student enrolled in any major within the Art and Art History Department and will be presented at the university’s annual Honors Convocation ceremony.

Selection Criteria

  • Recipient(s) must have junior standing during the semester that the award is given.
  • Recipient(s) must be enrolled in any major under the Art and Art History Department. Should there be no art and art history majors eligible, then secondary consideration will be given to those with the highest grade point average in any art history course(s) as calculated by the Student Registration and Record Services Office.
  • Recipient(s) must have minimum 3.0 grade point average.
  • Recipient(s) are eligible to receive the award one-time. This is a non-renewable award.

  • This scholarship is a one-time award and is non-renewable

Scholarship funding is determined by the Cortland College Foundation. Scholarship amounts and availability are subject to change.

This award is given out at Honors Convocation which takes place in April.
