Barbara Carey Crooke ’67 Scholarship

The Barbara Carey Crooke ’67 Scholarship was established by Philip Crooke in memory of his wife, Barbara, who received her elementary education degree from SUNY Cortland. The couple met in 1966 while Philip was a graduate student at Cornell University. Soon after, they married and spent their lives raising a family and living in Tennessee where Philip served as a mathematics faculty member at Vanderbilt University. This scholarship will be awarded to students enrolled in any major leading to a career in teaching with satisfactory academic achievement and a preference for demonstrated financial need. Award will be split evenly between the fall and spring semesters. Funding is based on availability.

Selection Criteria

  • For full-time matriculating students enrolled in any major leading to a career in teaching.
  • Recipient(s) must be a sophomore, junior or senior level student.
  • Recipient(s) must have satisfactory academic achievement.

Preference

  • Demonstrated Financial Need per FAFSA

Renewability

  • This scholarship is non-renewable. Students must apply each year.

Scholarship funding is determined by the Cortland College Foundation. Scholarship amounts and availability are subject to change.
