Bill ’50 and Judy Griffen Award
Award Name and Description:
The Bill ’50 and Judy Griffen Award was established in 2004 by colleagues and friends to honor Bill, Professor Emeritus at SUNY Cortland, in recognition of his distinction as the longest-serving faculty member in the history of the SUNY system at that time. Bill earned his bachelor’s degree in physical education and health from SUNY Cortland in 1950. He began his teaching career at the university in September 1955 and retired in August 2006. Awards will be made annually to students enrolled in any major within the Foundations and Social Advocacy Department with a minimum 3.0 grade point average and demonstrate a commitment to sustainability. This award will be presented at the university’s annual Honors Convocation ceremony.
Criteria:
• For full-time matriculating student(s) enrolled in any major within the Foundations and Social Advocacy Department.
• Recipient(s) must be a sophomore, junior, or senior level student.
• Recipient(s) must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average.
• Recipient(s) must demonstrate a commitment to sustainability.
• This award is non-renewable.
