Myrl Rose Crocker Howe '61 Scholarship

Established by Robert C. Howe in honor of his mother, Myrl Rose Crocker Howe ’61. This memorial fund will recognize in perpetuity the values and interests of Mrs. Howe. She attended the Emma Willard School, graduated in 1931 from Wheelock College, and received her New York State Teaching Certificate from SUNY Cortland in 1961. Mrs. Howe began teaching in the McGraw Central School District in 1956, until her retirement in 1972.

Awarded to a student who

  • is a matriculated continuing sophomore, junior, or senior level student in good academic standing at SUNY Cortland
  • is majoring in Childhood Education
  • must be graduates from a New York State high school
  • has a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average

Preference
is given in the following priority

  • student graduates from Cortland County
  • student graduates from upstate NY, counties including: Tompkins, Brome, Onondaga,
    Chenango, Cayuga, Madison, St. Lawrence, Clinton, Herkimer, Otsego, Oneida
  • student graduates from any county in New York State
  • has demonstrated financial need by way of filing a FAFSA

Renewal Information

  • may be renewable, renewals are dependent on available funding as provided by the Cortland College Foundation
  • is majoring in Childhood Education
  • has a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average
  • has demonstrated financial need per FAFSA
  • maintain satisfactory academic progress per SUNY Cortland’s published Federal Good Academic Standing guidelines

Funding is determined by the Cortland College Foundation. Scholarship amounts and availability are subject to change.
