Suzanne Pratt Birch '59 and Dr. Edward Birch '60 Scholarship for Future Childhood and Early Childhood Educators

The Suzanne Pratt Birch ’59 and Dr. Edward Birch ’60 Scholarship for future childhood and early childhood educators was established by Suzanne Pratt Birch ’59 and Edwrd Birch ’60 in appreciation for the academic, social and personal growth they expreienced when they were Cortland students. With the understanding that all students must have a basic liberal arts education, the intention of this scholarship is to encourage bright, promising students to become childhood or early childhood teachers.. Funding is based on availability. This award is split evenly between the fall and spring semesters.

Selection Criteria

  • is an entering freshman student
  • has been accepted into the early childhood or childhood education program
  • enrolled full-time (at least 12 credit hours each fall and spring semester)
  • student must have at least one full academic year remaining at the start of the fall semester of award year
  • has demonstrated financial need per FAFSA

Renewal Information

  • may be renewable, renewals are dependent on available funding as provided by the Cortland College Foundation
  • maintain satisfactory academic progress per SUNY Cortland’s published Federal Good Academic Standing guidelines
  • is majoring in early childhood or childhood education
  • enrolled full-time (at least 12 credit hours each fall and spring semester)
  • this scholarship is renewable for a maximum of four academic years (eight academic semesters, excluding summer semesters)

Funding is determined by the Cortland College Foundation. Scholarship amounts and availability are subject to change.
