Gary '73 and Gwendolyn DeBolt Scholarship

The Gary ‘73 and Gwendolyn DeBolt Scholarship was established with the intention of supporting Cortland students in their pursuit of becoming history teachers. Their affinity for SUNY Cortland began during Gary’s collegiate years and continued on after Gary graduated. A past president and a longtime member of the Cortland College Alumni Association, Gary carries a strong sense of pride and affection for the history department. He credits his career in education to the guidance received during undergraduate studies. Recipients will be enrolled as a Dual Major in Adolescence Education: Social Studies and History (7-12) with satisfactory academic achievement and a preference for demonstrated financial need. Award will be split evenly between the fall and spring semesters. Funding is based on availability.

Selection Criteria

  • For full-time matriculating student(s) enrolled in the Dual Major in Adolescence Education: Social Studies and History (7-12).
  • Recipients must be a sophomore, junior or senior.
  • Recipient(s) must have satisfactory academic achievement.
  • This scholarship is non-renewable. Students are eligible to apply each year.
  • Enrolled full-time (at least 12 credit hours each fall and spring semester)
  • Student must have at least one full academic year remaining at the start of the fall semester of award year

    Preference:
  • Demonstrated financial need.

  • This scholarship is a one-time award and is non-renewable

    Scholarship funding is determined by the Cortland College Foundation. Scholarship amounts and availability are subject to change.
