Donald Spampinato '84 Scholarship for Student Leadership and Physical Education

Established by Fred Lipscomb ’83 and Scott Fallon ’86 in honor of their great experiences at SUNY Cortland as physical education majors and resident advisors and in memory of their esteemed colleague, Donald Spampinato ’84, who passed away in the World Trade Center on 9/11. Award will be split evenly between the fall and spring semesters. Funding is based on availability.

Selection Criteria

  • awarded to a matriculated sophomore, junior or senior level student in good academic standing at SUNY Cortland
  • student must be working as a resident assistant
  • has had a positive impact on the SUNY Cortland campus
  • enrolled full-time (at least 12 credit hours each fall and spring semester)
  • student must have at least one full academic year remaining at the start of the fall semester of award year


  • is given to a physical education major

Renewal Information

  • This scholarship is a one-time award and is non-renewable

Scholarship funding is determined by the Cortland College Foundation. Scholarship amounts and availability are subject to change.
